FROM THE CROTCH !

You all remember the problems we had last fall and winter with packages being taken off porches. It is still happening, however this may give you some hope that at least they are following through.

On December 5th Jacob Baker decided one early morning to steal the package left at my front door. He picked it up and stuffed it into his backpack, What Jacob did not know was that the Postal Inspectors Office, PPD had arranged with me to have a bait package placed at my residence.

He was caught red handed and arrested, charged and jailed for felony mail theft. He has been sitting in jail since December 5th.

We have had at least 3 court dates that have all been postponed The fourth date I got today which will be April 17th.

The clerk who called me said there was a good chance this one would not happen because of the virus. She said that they are basically only hearing cases of those that are incarcerated.

A common defense ploy is to postpone several times in the hopes that the DA's Office which is overwhelmed with cases will drop or plead it down..... or the victim(s) / witness (es) will become weary and not show up. If the victim/witness does not show up...the case is dismissed.

So I told the lady to be sure to tell the DA to inform the defense attorney that he is wasting his time if he thinks I will be a no show.

If the guy wants to sit in jail and keep postponing.. I have no problem...he's been in 4 months which is longer then any spent for the simple theft charge they used before the Postal Inspector got involved. I can wait another 4 months if he can !
